polish up

I've always been a huge fan of black or dark polish but lately I've become taken with anything in the nude ranges.
Nail polish is such a fun accessory and one that should be changed out as often as possible. Right?
The other day I got my nails 'shellac'd'.
It sounds crazy... and it kind of is. It's a polish/gel hybrid which means that it applies like a nail polish (but still requires 'setting' with UV light) but isn't as ghastly to remove. Well, so they say - I've yet to have mine taken off.
The absolute best part of it, is that 6 days later and after a huge cleaning session, my nails look like they've just been done. They are glossy and shiny with no chips or scrapes. AMAZING.
The bummer - is that I'm over the colour and want to try something new. Yet I don't know where to go to get it off.
But, it does look good.
I'm just really glad I didn't get the fire engine red shade.

rats

I love it when I find clothes for Coco that are like clothes I wear.

On this day I put her in Sass and Bide 'rats' (from Cotton On Kids) with an oversize grey marle tee.

Rock n Roll bebe...

big hair

i spend so much of my time trying to tame my hair into smoothness. . . straightness. . . yet i love this look.
Totally crazy. Totally unwearable. Totally not what to wear to the cinema or theatre. But pretty fun. Hair like candyfloss. Hair like dandelions. . . wispy waspy hair.
Richard Kavanagh gave me a how-to on Beauty Goss. Flick over to beautygoss.com to check it out...

This pretty pic was taken at Sonia Rykiel's party in Paris for her lingerie line with H&M.

iQ font design with a car

This is clearly part of an advertisement for Toyota's iQ car... but it's pretty fucking cool. I love the font - called the iQ font and I love the way they did it...

kate's great ideas for Xmas

I just followed this link from Twitter to the TopShop blog - a sneak preview of pieces coming out soon for Kate Moss at TopShop.

While I LOVE her style, there have been very few items in her range that I've really wanted. Am I put off because initial reports claimed the fabrics to be cheap and badly constructed? Yes, a little. When you have to order online and have it sent half way around the world, it definitely makes you think twice. But there are a couple of pieces here that I like - the sweater on the bottom with the shoulder detail and the floaty dress, just above that.

As a global fast fashion behemoth, TopShop is quick to deliver catwalk trends, sometimes beating the designers at getting the items onto the shop floor. It's also a feeding ground for copycat stores around the world - the buyers from Glassons frequent TopShop and bring back samples to be copied (albeit altered by 30%... guess that makes the designs 60% off the high fashion pieces they copy?). Do the Glassons buyers still shop at TopShop now that it is so much more available here? What does it say about Glassons if they are just copies of a copy? Lately, Glassons has rarely hit it right... they need to employ a designer who can turn the brand around and give it a new lease of life. Or maybe not. Maybe it's good as it is.

Anyway.... fast-fashion.... love it or hate it, it has its place. And these pieces could just find their place in my wardrobe!

say it...

I saw this status on a friend's facebook page and I really love it.

'Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.' ~Dr Seuss

There were so many wonderful Dr Seuss quotes... I stumble across them all the time. What's your favourite?

How cool were writers like Dr Seuss and Roahl Dahl. Are there any modern writers capable of combining nonsense, wit and philosophy?

guardian angels on earth

don't you just love the effect a newborn has on a daddy? the rush of love... who said that it is just maternal?
i love what seal was quoted as saying in People magazine:
of their new addition to the family, little Lou Sulola Samuel, he says: 'from the moment she looked into both of our eyes, it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years.'

I am so happy that Coco chose us to watch her grow over the coming years!
